One of the design goals of the 6D was to make a more compact full frame camera. The pentaprism in a full frame camera needs to be bigger than in a crop camera, so addiing a flash on top of that would have made the camera even larger. I applaud Canon's decision.
It would appear that Canon have withdrawn support for this device and the 1DX MKI. I have tried and old Ipad but it will not download the latest software because of it's IOS version, I have tried a new Ipad and it downloads the latest software but that does not support the 1DX, I have tried with my phone and that does not support the 1DX either.I turn on the 6D WiFi, then I have to change or choose the other device settings to Join my 6D WiFi name. For using the EOS Utility, I'm trying to use infrastructure. In this case I have the camera search for my home WiFi network, which it finds. Apparently the only option I have to connect to my AP is thru WPA2 so I enter the ascii password.
Canon's app allows you to specify a save folder when I use my laptop, tethered by USB. I only the use the iPad as a remote wireless shutter. Remember,, the built-in Wi-Fi in a camera does not mean it is fully networkable. Think of it as a longer range, wireless Bluetooth. All you have is two devices communicating wirelessly.
Canon Camera Connect does not list support for raw Canon .CR2 files. This is probably due to the much larger size of raw files versus compressed JPEG files. Some Canon cameras, including the EOS 6D, have the ability to do some raw processing in camera using the camera's LCD screen.
