My summary: tank works great with no problems. Pod filter improves low amd mid IMO, with no loss of top end. Exposed filter is not an issue. Water resistant prefilters are available if you are worried about water. Motor access for maintenance is greatly improved.
San Francisco, CA. Have a 2016 690 which came with MT-21's. It's time to change them. I was set on getting K60 Scout's but heard from another 690 owner that this was not recommended as these tires "weren't so great for lighter enduro bikes" like the 690. Being a relative newbie on Enduro's - my previous bikes were all the heavier 1200GS variety

KTM's quality control, attention to detail and use of high end components really pays off. Especially in the weight savings, suspension and handling departments. If you want a budget adventure bike, the KLR is a great choice. But if you want a truly capable go-anywhere, light weight, fun to ride adventure bike, the 690 Enduro R is your bike.
