I also think a switch to Iridium spark plugs could extend that interval to say 35-50k. Buyer beware on the 3rd party warranties.

You will want to remove the #1 spark plug and verify the pistonService. 1. Verify condition by observing engine sound during cold start. 2. If the rattling noise comes from the area of the timing chains (back of the engine) for 1-3 seconds after the first start of the day, replace both upper chain tensioners of bank 1 and bank 2 with the optimized chain tensioners.

You are correct, despite what a few clueless people have been spouting and fear mongering on this sub, the 3.0T is an extremely reliable engine.
